About: I’m a Medical Doctor with a master’s in international health and tropical diseases. I have 35 years of experience in public health, 30 of which have been spent working in 25 countries in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. I am a clinician, health program manager and researcher with expertise in Tuberculosis (TB), Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB), HIV, malaria, and neglected tropical diseases. I have relevant experience in epidemiological surveillance and project monitoring and evaluation. I am a medical advisor for the Damien Foundation (a Belgian NGO working in 14 Countries in TB, leprosy and leishmaniasis control) and an MDR-TB Expert at the Institute of Tropical Medicine of Antwerp. I provide technical assistance to National Tuberculosis Programmes (NTPs) and conduct International and National TB and MDR-TB courses. In recent years, I have worked as Country Representative for Damien Foundation in Niger and Medical Advisor of the National Tuberculosis Programme (13 years), as MDR-TB coordinator of the Union (3 years), as rGLC consultant for WHO in the Middle East Region. I’m a former member (2017-2021) of the Technical Review Panel of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Since 2003 I coordinate a module on Cooperation in Health in the Master of International Health and Cooperation of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
